常见问题
What is pairwise comparison?
Pairwise comparison (also called pairwise ranking) is a decision-making method where you rank a list of items by comparing them two at a time: “Which is more important, A or B?” Repeating this for a series of pairs produces a full ranking of the whole list — far easier than trying to order everything at once.
How many comparisons do I need to rank n items?
Comparing every item against every other takes n × (n − 1) ÷ 2 matchups — 45 comparisons for 10 items. PairwisePro’s quick mode uses an optimized merge-sort strategy that needs only around n × log₂(n) — about 25 comparisons for 10 items — with no loss in ranking quality.
Is pairwise comparison better than a weighted decision matrix?
They answer different questions. A weighted decision matrix scores each option against criteria you rate yourself — good when you know the criteria and can quantify them. Pairwise comparison forces direct between-option judgments, which reduces bias and works when criteria are hard to quantify. PairwisePro offers both tools for free.
Can I use pairwise ranking for product feature prioritization?
Yes — it is one of the most common uses. Product managers paste their backlog or feature list, compare features head-to-head, and get a ranked priority order they can defend in planning meetings. You can also export the results to CSV for your roadmap.
Is PairwisePro free? Do I need an account?
PairwisePro is 100% free and requires no account. Everything runs in your browser — your lists and results never leave your device unless you choose to share a results link.
Can I share my results with others?
Yes. After ranking, click “Share results” to copy a link that anyone can open to see your final ranked list — useful for team decisions, class projects, or settling friendly debates.

Pairwise vs RICE vs Eisenhower vs Weighted Decision Matrix: Which Should You Use?
Compare the four most popular prioritization methods — pairwise comparison, RICE, Eisenhower Matrix, and weighted decision matrix — by effort, bias resistance, and fit, plus how to combine them.
How Many Pairwise Comparisons Do You Need to Rank N Items?
A plain explanation of pairwise comparison counts: the n(n−1)/2 round-robin formula, the ~n·log₂(n) merge-sort shortcut, tables for 5 to 30 items, and when to trim your list.
